Christmas Cards

These are a few Christmas cards I did for The Embellished Scrapbook Boutique's Christmas Card Round Robin this past weekend.  They set up card kits and customers go around to each card and make as many as they want for $1.50 per card.  You can see the cards HERE.  We make up about 20 kits of each card and sometimes have to make more kits before the weekend is over.  I had to cut more for each of these cards.  The Joy card was the most popular.

 

This card used the O Little Town of Bethlehem stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs stamped in colbalt ink.  The poinsettia is the Layered Poinsettia die from Spellbinders and the greenery is the Martha Stewart medium pine branch punch.  The pearls were colored with a copic marker.

As I said this was the most popular card.  I started with 20 kits and had to cut an additional 35 kits.  The joy and snowflake are cut from WPlus9 Seasonal Sentiments dies and the snowflake border is Memory Box Frostyville.  

For this card, I got the idea HERE using the Taylored Expressions O Christmas Tree die. I just changed the color and left off the bow.

I made this card as a store sample for the Embellished Scrapbook Boutique.  The photo of Lucille Ball is actually a photostamp from The Stampsmith.  With these type of stamps, you need to stamp the image on glossy paper (not photo paper)  with archival ink for the best results.  I then colored the image with chalks.  For some reason, the peachy color on the flesh does not show up very well even in real life. 

I handmade the flowers using a small retro flower punch by Paper Shapers.  Just stack six flowers on top of each other with glue in the center.  Alternate the petals as you go.  On the top flower, crease each petal down the center, place glue on the petals and bend up so they meet in the middle.  You have to hold them for a bit while the glue dries.  On the remaining layers, lift each petal up to give the flower dimension.

Another 90th Birthday Card

My neighbor wanted a special card for a friend who was turning 90 so I told her about the 90th card that Carol and I made for our uncle. Without seeing pictures of that card, she requested that we make one for her friend. Since the card was for a female, I decided a quilt pattern would be perfect for the front.

Carol decorated a clear box that a stamp set was packaged in for the envelope for the card.

Easter Basket

I saw this cute little Easter basket on Splitcoaststampers and knew I had to try to make one for myself.  Unlike the one on Splitcoast, I did use adhesive to hold everything together.  It was too taxing on my brain to figure out how to do it without. 

I glued together two MFT picket fences by overlapping one of the pickets.  Fold after every 9 pickets to make a box.  There will be one picket left over that you will overlap and glue to the first picket to complete the box.  I then cut a 3 1/2" square and scored at 1/4" on all sides to make the bottom.  Fold sides up and put adhesive around the edges and fit inside the picket fence.  I used Martha Stewart punches for the grass, handle and butterflies.  The vine is a Poppystamps die.  I colored the Pure Innocence My Basket of Eggs girl with Copics and cut out.  I cut the bunny out of a scrap of Bella Blvd. paper.

I made this while I was at the Embellished Scrapbook Boutique and did not have anything to fill the basket.  I borrowed the eggs, chick and grass from another teacher (unbeknownst to her - Marianne, you can have it all back!) so that I could complete my project.  The store owner decided she is going to use it as a project this week when she has her MRDD class.

Bride Card

I made this card for my niece Sarah's bridal shower.  I got the pattern HERE on Splitcoaststampers.  I did not have a heart punch so I hand drew the bodice. I used this tutorial from Cheery Lynn to make the roses.  I have their miniature rose die, but it was too big for this card.  The Paper Shapers small retro flower punch was the perfect size.

This first one was inspired by this card by Kraft Joy on Splitcoaststampers. Now looking at my card, I think I went a little overboard on the sponging of the white ink.

In total, I sent out about 40 Christmas cards. I did not start working on them until about two weeks before Christmas so it got to be a bit stressful trying to get them done. This year I hope to make a few each month but then that is always my plan and it never works out.

Christmas Cards - ODBD

I love this stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs Worship the Lord set.  The above cards are a couple that I sent out for Christmas.  The sky was sponged with outdoor denim ink. Stickles was used on the snow on the church. I sponged chai tea and chamomile inks around the newsprint and on the faux crochet border.  On the second card I sponged vintage cream around the card and the kraft border across the center.

I made seven of these cards for gift baskets for the Women's Gathering at my church, The Chapel. Stickles was used for the snow in the sky and liquid applique for the snow on the church, trees and ground.

This card is just an extra one that I made. On this one, the church was stamped on an oval then cut out and glued to a blue oval the same size. Liquid applique was used on the snow on the church and the ground
